POTD March 7, 8

Brian and I had a date night on Saturday, just the two of us. We had dinner at Mt. Fuji in Southlands, and it was so yummy. Then we went to see Gran Torino starring Clint Eastwood. It was a really, really good movie. We both really enjoyed it. Clint Eastwood plays a widow who refuses to move out of his old neighborhood, even though it is now full of gangs, mostly made up of Hmong immigrants. A gang is trying to recruit the son of the family who lives next door to CE's character. As the son's initiation into the gang, they want him to steal CE's gran torino car. CE catches him, and his family insists that he work for CE to make it up to him. You can guess where it goes from there. Great story, and actually very funny. We had a great time, and Simon and Nina were thrilled to have another night with our beloved babysitter, Shalimar.



We missed church on Sunday due to being out late the night before and the time change. Brian had time to finish putting the grill together and we christened it with our friends down the street for dinner. Barbecued chicken! It was so much fun. We hadn't planned on getting together, but the "guys" called at around 3:30, asking if Brian could help them move some sand from their backyard. We all went over and hung out and then decided to have dinner together. My friend made a wonderful lentil and rice pilaf. We love impromptu dinners with the neighbors! Have a great week everyone!

My friend Sarah and I officially registered for the state swim meet. I'll be swimming 50 Free, 200 Free, 50 Breast and 100 IM.

POTD March 3

God bless him, Brian chaperoned Simon's field trip to the Denver Art Museum today. They had a great time! Above is Simon with his BFF and another friend from class. Below is the group of boys in Simon's class that he hangs out with.

POTD March 2

Well, Nina's newest thrill is climbing up on the kitchen chairs, then up on the kitchen table, etc. It can only end badly over on the hardwood floor so my solution is to put a chair right in the middle of the living room for her to climb on to her heart's content. I even made a little video with her. Please excuse my annoyance at Simon's shirt choice. :)



After I made the video of Nina, Simon and I had to have a little impromptu photo shoot. So photogenic, aren't we?





Of course we had to make our own video too.

POTD March 1

Today's POTD (Picture of the Day) is of Brian finally attempting to assemble the grill we bought on black Friday. Although his look of frustration was exaggerated for the picture, I assure you, it's close to reality! While he puts the grill together, Simon is playing shuffleboard (from Aunt Pat and Uncle Tom) with the neighbor boys. In a shocking turn of events, Nina is napping. I guess she's tired from all of her misbehaving in church. People tell you she's cute and nobody minds, but you can't help but wonder (Carrie Bradshaw style) if she's the topic of their "kids these days" lunch conversations.
