Settling In

We got to come home on Saturday, and we were SO ready. After the nurses had shift change at 7am, our new nurse stopped by to meet us, and we asked her "Are you the discharge nurse?" We were already dressed and ready to go. We got to be first in line to be discharged, and we ended up getting home around 11am. The whole experience at Good Sam's hospital was great, and Kaiser has been amazing. Not only does the hospital send you home with a complete meal of lasagne, salad, french bread and juices, they send a nurse and a lactation specialist to your house two days later to check on you. Luckily Nina has been really good so far but we did have a few breastfeeding struggles (the kid likes to eat -- often!) so the specialists really helped us there and even stopped by again this past Tuesday to check on us one more time.

Before they left to go visit grandpa and grandma in Florida, Aunt Pat and Uncle Tom stopped by with dinner to meet their newest Godchild. On Brian's side, Aunt Betsy is Nina's Godmother, and we're looking forward to having her visit soon!

My friend Eileen is baby crazy, and after having four of her own (including 2 year old twin boys), I think her family is grateful to us that she can get her baby fix with Nina for awhile now. :) Eileen already started a "shoe fund" for Miss Nina in a little piggy bank in Nina's room. I've been told it's also for Nina to get anything she wants that Brian and I may not allow her to get. Spoiled rotten already, isn't she?

When Simon was born he looked so much like a Bernhard, there was no denying him. Nina has a few more Benzel tendencies so far, including one that we're most proud of - multiple chins! :) Her reddish hair could come from either side so the jury's still out on that one.
